Berney Arms Reach in the foreground opens out into Breydon Water in the distance. The mill with its sails are once again a very visible landmark on the marshes.

Probably built in the mid 18th century, but extensively renovated in 1989 by the RSPB, the old farmhouse is the largest building at Berney Arms.

The coaster "Blackheath" makes its way slowly along the
Yare as it approaches Berney Arms mill around the curves of the river
shortly before entering the expanse of Breydon Water. The buildings

Steam
on the marshes
A great atmospheric picture showing the steam engine "The Glasgow
Highlander" pulling the Yarmouth-Liverpool Street "Norfolkman"
special across the waterlogged Berney marshes towards Reedham. The
train is approaching Berney Arms station which is just out of shot
to the right. The mill tower can be seen in the background.

Berney
Arms station
Hardly Kings Cross! The remoteness and isolation of Britain's smallest
station can clearly be seen in this view.

Looking
west across the marshes
This summertime shot shows the River Yare winding its way west towards
Norwich. Many sailing boats can be seen following the well trodden
holiday route past the sail-less tower of the Berney Arms mill. The
flatness of the landscape is clearly visible in this view and the
extent of the drainage ditches taking water from the marshes can also
be seen. The Berney Arms Inn is situated in the lower right of the
picture.
